Our team of trainers are highly experienced Automation leaders, programmers, installers, and operators. They have a desire to share and love to enthuse and to pass on their learned wisdom. RPS teach with empathy and understanding and will take the time to ensure no one is left behind.
Our Approach
RPS training is offered as customisable packages. Each package offers both classroom style and hands on training. Our Delivery
RPS training employs both classroom and hands on training, to ensure engagement and understanding. Classroom training includes presentations, handouts and live assessments. Hands on training includes component identification alongside scenario practice and discussions.
Training Levels: Foundation ABTT CPD
Overview: Foundation level is designed to introduce trainees to Automation in live entertainment; its applications and integrations, use cases, limitations, best practices, basic topology and components.
Outcomes: On successful completion of this course, the trainee will be able to evidence an understanding of the key components and applications for Automation within live entertainment including relevant health and safety legislation and compliance.
Suitable for: New starters in automation, other Technicians, Riggers, Stage Managers and Production Managers working with or alongside automation.
Training Levels: Operations ABTT Silver
Overview: Operations training is designed to ensure trainees have a fully rounded understanding of automation systems in entertainment, including operations, communications, components and topology, maintenance and first line fault finding. This training can be enhanced with show operations observation and subsequent discussions.
Outcomes: On successful completion of this course, the trainee will be able to evidence a solid understanding of the components, interconnections and applications for Automation within live entertainment. Alongside a demonstrable appreciation for best practice in communications, operations, maintenance and fault finding.
Suitable for: Existing Automation team members, Technicians transferring to Automation and any team member with a desire to dig deeper into Automation and its systems.
Training Level: Venue Specific/Custom
Overview: Venue Specific / Custom training is tailored to the client’s automation system, operational procedures and working environment. Training content is developed around the installed equipment, venue topology, show requirements and local operating practices, ensuring maximum relevance and immediate practical application. Sessions may cover operations, maintenance, fault finding, safety systems, communications, emergency procedures and venue-specific workflows.
Outcomes: On successful completion of this course, the trainee will be able to demonstrate a detailed understanding of their specific automation system, its components, interconnections and operational procedures. Trainees will gain confidence in the safe operation of the system, recognise common faults and alarms, and understand the correct escalation and recovery procedures relevant to their venue.
Suitable for: Automation operators, technicians, maintenance personnel, production managers and venue staff responsible for the operation, support or supervision of automation systems within a specific venue or production environment.
Training Level: Maintenance/Mechanical
Overview: understanding of the mechanical elements of automation systems. Topics may include inspection routines, preventative maintenance, wire rope systems, sheaves, bearings, drive mechanisms, brakes, tensioning systems, lubrication, wear assessment and safe isolation procedures. Training combines theoretical knowledge with practical inspection and maintenance techniques.
Outcomes: On successful completion of this course, the trainee will be able to perform routine inspection and maintenance activities, identify signs of wear or degradation, understand common mechanical failure modes and apply best practice maintenance procedures. Trainees will develop the skills required to improve system reliability, extend equipment life and support safe operation.
Suitable for: Maintenance technicians, mechanical engineers, automation technicians, venue technical staff and personnel responsible for the inspection, servicing and upkeep of automation equipment and associated mechanical systems.
